Description
The Star Science course promotes an inquiry-based approach to learning science and supports teachers at every stage of planning,
teaching, learning and assessment. Each book in this series presents core science topics in an exciting manner to create a motivating
learning environment for pupils and develop a love of learning that will remain with them throughout their lives. Topics are presented in
a manner that pupils can relate to in everyday life. Pupils understand and learn through experience. Star Science promotes this kind of
natural, active, hands-on learning by encouraging them to explore, ask questions and assess their knowledge and understanding.
The lavish use of colour photographs and illustrations and the creative and attractive design bring science to life and engage and
motivate pupils. Links in the books guide pupils and teachers to the corresponding activities in the Activity Books. Star Science is
supported by digital resources as part of the STEM approach.
Concepts are explained with the help of photographs and learningguides that appear throughout the books. Star Science activities are designed to engage pupils and make learning science exciting and fun. Star Science methodology is aligned with the latest educational practices that meet the needs of today’s learners and impact pupils’ learning outcomes to help them reach their full potential.
Unique Features of Star Science:

• Think Time. Provides opportunities for pupils to extend their learning and promotes collaboration and cooperative learning
by requiring pupils to work in groups.
• Extra Info. Provides pupils with interesting additional information to spur further engagement and encourage selfguided research.
• Sci-notes. Promote reflective learning by allowing pupils to write their research results and assess their understanding
of topics. Questions that challenge pupils to explore science topics further and maintain a science journal are included.
• Put it together/Quick Quiz. Each unit concludes with a concept map summarising the key points. Review questions
help teachers track pupils’ progress with formative assessment of their knowledge and understanding of the unit.
